The New Puma is coming

The Ford Ecosport Replacement is coming. The new Puma is a five seat compact SUV and it is expected to be on the road for just over $30,000 offering a compelling package of style, comfort and safety.

Available in a base, ST-Line and top spec ST-Line V model the new Puma will be available as an economical 2 wheel drive with automatic transmission and five driving modes, Normal, Sport, Eco, Slippery and Trail, so you can customise your car to the drive conditions.

You will love the jaw dropping safety this car includes as standard with six airbags, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, driver impairment monitor, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring and emergency assistance. For a small addition of around $1500 you can also add a ‘Park Package’ which makes the cruise control adaptive from and to stop and lane centring, active park assist with front, side and rear sensors, front parking sensors and blind-spot detection.

But the inclusions don’t stop there as standard on the new Puma you will get 17-inch Pearl Grey alloy wheels, push-button start, cruise control and a leather-clad multifunction steering wheel with fingertip control for the voice-activated sat-nav and smartphone mirroring commands. You also get a Sync3 infotainment system with voice-activated satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless smartphone charging, DAB+ digital radio, Bluetooth-enabled audio streaming, 8.0-inch full-colour touchscreen and 180-degree split-view reversing camera.

If you want to step it up a level the ST-Line has a sportier front and rear apron than the entry level Puma, a black mesh grille, unique fog light surrounds, five-spoke alloy wheels, slightly lower ride height, rear spoiler, extra body sculpting and labelled side skirts. It also comes with sports suspension, a 12.3-inch full-colour digital instrument cluster, flat-bottomed leather-clad steering wheel, transmission paddle-shifters, ST-Line sports seats, red interior stitching and metallic sports pedals. If you do want to go a step further you can splurge for customised prestige paint, a power-opening panoramic roof and roof rails.

For those who will only accept the best, and for under $40,000 on-road who wouldn’t, the ST-Line V come with 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, privacy glass with window surrounds and a bit of chrome bling on the grille, fog light bezels and rear bumper details so people know you are in the top line model. There is smart keyless entry, leather-accented seats with metal-grey stitching, automatic climate-control air-conditioning and a premium Bang & Olufsen 10-speaker subwoofer audio. The ST-Line V also includes a hands-free powered tailgate, which is an optional extra on the lower-tiered variants.

Ford Australia and New Zealand president and CEO Kay Hart said Puma would bring “life-changing innovations to customers”, referencing features such as the Ford Pass Connect embedded modem shared with the latest version of the bigger Escape. In short, this is the car for “discerning customers who demand both style and substance,” she said and we have to agree.
